Core Values
Equity
Financial disparities limit youth from marginalized backgrounds in accessing international and domestic travel opportunities. Our primary objective is to alleviate the financial burden for youth participation to provide global education for a holistic worldview, equipting them with a comprehensive understanding of the world.
Access
Access to resources and opportunities plays a pivotal role in the growth and success of Black and Brown youth, especially those from marginalized backgrounds. By breaking down the barriers caused by finanical inequities, we can create pathways for these youth to thrive academically, personally, and socially. Providing them with equitable access not only empowers them to develop their full potential but alsofosters long term well being and resilience. When we invest in their growth, we are investing in a future of shared opportunity and collective progress.
Health and Wellness
Black and Brown youth from marginalized backgrounds often face heightened stress, anxiety, and depression, which are compounded by PTSD and environmental stressors. These challenges can negatively shape their self image and health. We are committed to addressing these stressors by offering support, equitable access to programs and wellness activities. By promoting mental health awareness and offering coping strategies, ALJ helps reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues and encourages youth to take proactive steps toward self-care.
Education
We will provide youth with opportunities for immersive educational, leadership and advocacy development, while also offering cultural exchange programs that emphasize the importance of community engagement, mental health, and self-care. By providing educational experiences in areas like social justice, wellness, and global citizenship, our programs will cultivate the necessary skills Global Leaders will need to advocate for social change. This prepares them to serve their community and beyond as advocates.
