Values
A Leadership Journey sits on 4 big values:
- Equity
- Access
- Health and Wellness
- Education
Our 5 Pillars
Self-Awareness
This value is important because we challenge the youth to become more in-tune with their feelings and emotions. Youth are empowered to feel more confident and comfortable expressing themselves, owning their voice, and embracing their personal stories.
Global Citizenship
Global Citizenship is the idea of all persons having rights and civic responsibilities that come with being a member of the world, with whole-world philosophy and sensibilities, rather than as a citizen of a particular nation or place.
Mental & Emotional Wellness
We prioritize mental and emotional wellness because we want the youth to understands why it is important to take care of themselves. By implementing healthier self love/self care practices, youth decrease their stress levels & maintain their joy.
Leadership
Youth participants grow through educational advocacy development that prepares them to better serve their communities as advocates and as a global citizen.
Ubuntu
"Ubuntu" is an African Proverb that means "I am because you are, my humanity is tied to yours". We educate the youth on how important it is to see others as themselves. Youth are encouraged to practice this principle in and outside of the classroom. The more Youth are able to see themselves as others, the more prepared they are to live/serve in diverse settings.

Youth Voice
This Journey facilitated my growth as a person and as a leader. I gained confidence by allowing myself to be vulnerable in positions and speaking on personal experiences.
Arielle
In retrospect, I truly do feel as if I learned more about myself through this experience than anything else. This journey caused me to do a deeper dive into self.
Barbara
Being able to go on this journey, in a new, and unfamiliar terrain, has helped me thoroughly comprehend the world at large.
Brandon
Community
"In America, people are infatuated with the ideas of individuality, similarity, and narcissism. Although many people have good intentions, it is hard to escape vices such as these, in my opinion. In my experiences, in general, people lack the necessary empathy which is necessary in the healthy progression of any community."
